The Community Engagement Division includes the Crime Prevention Team and El Segundo Volunteer Program. Functions of the division include:

• Strengthening relationships between the El Segundo Police Department and the public
• Disseminating statistical data
• Providing crime prevention techniques and tips
• Conducting disaster preparedness training

School Resource Officers 

El Segundo Police Department’s School Resource Officers are sworn law enforcement officers responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools. Both officers work closely with administrators to create asafer environment for both students and staff. The responsibilities of SROs include:

• Responding to calls for service
• Documenting incidents
• Mentoring the students
• Conducting presentations on youth-related issues

Community Lead Officers 

The El Segundo Police Department’s Community Lead Officers play a critical role in the department's approach to reducing crime by strengthening community relationships and trust. These officers partner with community and civic organizations, neighborhood watch groups, local businesses, and concerned citizens to develop and implement solutions to challenges within the City.

Crime Prevention Analyst

The El Segundo Police Department Crime Prevention Analyst establishes, manages, and maintains programs and initiatives to prevent and reduce crime. Initiatives include working closely with neighborhood watch groups and providing training and presentations. The analyst represents the El Segundo Police Department at community events, manages our victims' assistance program, and is a primary member of our social media team.

El Segundo Volunteer Program 

The El Segundo Volunteer Program is comprised of dedicated men and women who share their diversity of skills, abilities, education, and life experiences with the El Segundo Police Department and our community. The most effective law enforcement efforts are collaborative partnerships between police and community members. Our volunteers perform various duties throughout the department, enabling our paid personnel to concentrate on specialized tasks and better manage their workflow.
